Picabeen provides a range of activities which are all conducted by volunteers. The activities at Picabeen not only enhance people’s skills; they also serve to build interpersonal relationships and create a sense of belonging.

Improve your literacy and numeracy skills with free individually tailored programs – A new program is being planned for New Year in 2018
Enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Picabeen Park when you join the very experienced Tai Chi teachers on Thursday mornings at 9:30am. $5 per session. Bookings are essential
Art & Craft
The Art & Craft group has created some real masterpieces over time. Looking to learn a new craft skill or just enjoy the company of others while you create something new? Join them to learn or just to enjoy the creative atmosphere on Tuesdays 1-3pm, Thursdays from 10am – 12pm and Friday 1pm to 3pm – $5 per session.
Claire’s Sewing Class
Claire’s Sewing Class gathers from 1pm-3pm on Thursdays. ($5)
A friendly group of people from many countries work with our tutors to improve their spoken and written English. Join this free activity from 9:30am -11:30am on Fridays except during school holidays. No need to book.
Join the lovers of words on Friday afternoons as they challenge each other for the top score or just enjoy creating words. $5 per session.
Basic computer skills
You have bought a computer but now you want to use it. Join our Tutors on Thursday or Friday mornings when he will show you how to manage emails or simple Word documents. No one will laugh at you but there will be laughter as everyone enjoys these sessions. It’s free!
Yoga for seniors
is held every Wednesday from 10am – 11:15am except the 4th Wednesday of each month. Cost is $5 per session. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one and wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely whilst stretching.

Older Women’s Network (Qld) Inc (OWN)
is a network of groups of older women who celebrate the wit and wisdom of their lives. The program promotes discussion and action on healthy ageing, access to information, dealing with loss and change, and much more. OWN meets at Picabeen on the 4th Wednesday of every month from 10am to 12pm. Membership is $14 per year and $2 per meeting. OWN members meet for lunch after each meeting and on the last Saturday each month at a local venue. No meetings in January.

Join us for our playgroups on Fridays and Monday at Picabeen, 10am – 12pm Parents, grandparents and caregivers are welcome! We have arts and crafts, games, music and stories.
In addition Picabeen holds a number of community events throughout the year. Annual events include Harmony Day, Volunteer Recognition, Seniors Week activities and an End of Year celebration.
